Explore the history of The Rocks district with our expertly crafted audio+puzzle tour. Uncover the secrets of this historic area through the lens of British convicts, as you hear stories of colonists, convicts, soldiers, sailors, and the local larrikin gangs.

Listen to the stories of The Rocks

Our famous audiobook-quality commentary will reveal the fascinating stories of the convicts who lived and worked here, how convicts and free citizens lived side-by-side in this historic neighbourhood, and the narrow cobblestone laneways the local residents lived and played in.

This self-guided audio+puzzle tour of The Rocks is an entertaining and informative way to explore at your own pace. You will receive printed tour booklets and access to our mobile app, and together they will guide you to discover the hidden sights and rich history of The Rocks district.

Outdoor 'escape-room' style puzzles

As you explore, you will also solve puzzles which will encourage you to interact with your surroundings throughout The Rocks area. It might be deciphering the secret codes hidden on Australia's first hospital, uncovering concealed patterns, or figuring out the hidden messages in street numbers!

Note that puzzles range in difficulty (just like a regular escape room), so they are suitable for both teenagers (8 and up) and adults.

Fun family day out

We took our two boys (age 7 and 2) to the Rocks last weekend on this tour and it was loads of fun. It was exciting getting the little package in the mail and my 7 year old loved looking through the booklet and downloading the app to get ready for our tour. When we got there most of the puzzles were pretty easy to work out and easily accessible with a pram (except for clue 7 which had some stairs). Great fun!

Amazing value and heaps of fun!

We did the Rocks puzzle tour with our kids 13, 10 and 9. It was a great way to see the Rocks and we all had heaps of fun!

Outstanding fun

Picked up flyer on a whim and checked it out. I love doing puzzles and thought it would be a nice way to learn some Sydney history. It was even better than I had hoped. Puzzles were a good mix from somewhat obvious to brain crunching which is what I was envisioning. Now I know much more history about the Harbour and rocks area. Thank you.

Informative & fun

Was great to get out, learn about our cities history & the puzzles got the kids thinking. Brought our dog along & it was suitable for him too, with no spots he couldn’t access.
