About Cadmans Cottage

Constructed in 1816, Cadmans Cottage stands as a rare relic of Sydney's early days, surviving among a select few buildings from the colony's initial three decades. Crafted from sandstone, this historic cottage served various purposes, transitioning from a water transport hub to a sailors' residence and later a water police station. Originally situated by the water's edge, the evolution of Circular Quay has since shifted the harbor approximately 100 meters away from its original location.
